it’s time for some crafting instructions for another Ramadan calendar. In the last weeks I have shown you how to make an easy one made out of paper cups. In addition, I also introduced you to making a Ramadan calender for adults out of tea bags. Today, I would like to show you another inspiring crafting idea: the Ramadan calendar with a camel caravan and mosque. This is a very sweet idea, especially for children, so that Ramadan can be arranged and celebrated more nicely. There is a small treat in each of the small packages that the camels carry on their backs, as well as in the windows of the mosque. Of course, for this, you will also find everything available as a crafting template and ready to craft. Let’s start….
For the Ramadan Calendar With a Camel Caravan and a Mosque You Will Need:
- Crafting template (download it or via print service)
- White cardboard (42,0 cm x 59,4 cm)
- Beige cardboard (42,0 cm x 59,4 cm)
- 12 toilet paper rolls
- 3 egg cartons (10 pack)
- Hemp rope
- Red crepe paper
- Green crepe paper
- Brown transparent paper
- Marker pens
- Rhinestones
- Masking Tape
- Double-sided tape
- Tape
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Small Packages:
When creating the Ramadan calendar with a camel caravan and mosque, we start with the small packages that the camels carry on their backs. For this, you need to cut out 30 small packages.
Cut out a square from the red crepe paper. Fill up the cup of the egg carton with a small treat.
Finally, every egg carton cup gets wrapped in crepe paper, just like a present, and then tied together with a hemp rope.
Camels:
The first thing the camels need is something to make them stand. This will be done by using the toilet paper rolls and creating a stand. Cut out the square-shaped template and glue it onto the roll by using the glue stick.
Repeat these steps 12 times.
Now you cut out the camel pattern and use it to trace 12 camels on beige cardboard.
Cut out all of the camels, color them with marker pens and decorate them with rhinestones.
At the end, use tape to stick the finished camel onto the toilet paper roll.
Now place the small package on the opening side of the toilet paper roll so that it looks like the camel is carrying it between its humps.
Palm trees:
Take 3 of the egg carton cups and do the same with the previous small packages. But this time use brown paper for it. You can leave out the ribbon. Every small package should turn into a palm tree element.
The upper part of the palm tree will not be used to place a treat but to hold down the palm leaves. For this, you fold the paper towards the inside and line it up according to the shape of the carton.
Stack each palm tree element on top of each other and use tape to fasten them on their intersections.
To create the palm tree leaves you will need to lay the green crepe paper on top of each other and make parallel cuts with the scissors.
The bottom, uncut part of the crepe paper, needs to be taped so it belongs to the upper part of the palm tree.
Mosque:
For the next step, we need to craft the mosque part of this Ramadan calendar that consists of a camel caravan and mosque. At first, you have to cut out the 6 elements of the mosque template with the scissors or alternatively with a cutter and then connect the parts afterwards. In order to do this, it is best to use a glue strip for each interface.
Now you cut out the mosque template and lay it on white cardboard. After that you trace it with a pencil in order to cut out the final version again.
If you like, you can decorate the mosque. I used golden masking tape to highlight the dome and the minaret. Use double-sided tape to stick the rest of the 15 small packages onto the mosque.
After that, cut out the numbers and use one number for each of the 30 packages.
The best way to keep the mosque in a steady position is to stick it to the wall with double-sided tape. I used toothpicks to hold the palm trees in place. This way they can stand freely. Finally, you place the camels after each other so they present a caravan. Then you decorate them in front of the mosque. Now your Ramadan calendar with a camel caravan and a mosque is finished.
I hope you like this idea and that you have fun crafting it yourself.
