Hello or Salam Alaikum (Arabic for “Peace be with you),

Nice that you have found the way to dattelbeere – stay a little on the blog and let yourself be inspired.

I’m Vanessa. I was born in 1990 in the middle of the Ruhr area, am married, mother of two sons (*2014 & *2017) and have studied German language, literature, culture and communication sciences with a focus on linguistics and German as a second and foreign language. Since 2017, I have been a full-time blogger, journalist and entrepreneur.

I go through everyday life with a lot of creativity and experience many small and big adventures together with my family. In order to bring my children closer to our religion, Islam, in a childlike and playful way, I have often benefited from my imagination and passion for self-making. Be it for Ramadan, the feast of sacrifice or how we as a German-Turkish Muslim family deal with Christmas and Easter.

dattelbeere is a DIY blog, focusing on Islam and intereligiosity. I’ll show you how you can create a child-friendly religious practice yourself with simple means and how painting, crafting, cutting, glueing and much more fit into it. Let me be inspired by my creative vein and help me to establish the colourful, diverse and child-friendly side of Islam. Get out your craft kit. Because here we go! Soon Ramadan and many other Islamic holidays are just around the corner.
